John Wayne made this movie in 1947 . This movie has fallen into public domain . John Wayne had been in the business since the 1920s and this was the first film he produced . By this time he really knew how to make a movie . He cast Gail Russell as the leading female in this film and Bruce Cabot and Harry Carey in major roles . The Harris Poll released in January of 2011 puts John Wayne 3rd in America’s favorite film stars he is the only deceased star on the list and the only one who has appeared on the poll every year since it first started in 1994 . I really think this is in with the best 100 westerns ever made . All the wonderful western landscapes and hats, boots, horses and old west towns. This is one of my favorite westerns and everytime i watch this movie it even seems better than i remembered . Quirt Evans, an all round bad guy, is nursed back to health and sought after by Penelope Worth a quaker girl. He eventually finds himself having to choose between his world and the world Penelope lives in.

LANGUAGE ADVISORY – Although many people might not think twice about the language in this movie I felt I had to post a language advisory . At the first of this western movie John Wayne does say a word several times that would insinuate that the no good outlaws would not know who their fathers were. And there may be other words through out the movie. ( I have not watched this western in a little while so I do not remember ). I have a lot of respect for John Wayne and the messages in his movies and as a wonderful Dan Roberts song says Lord How I Miss John Wayne. This western was made in 1972 the industry was changing a lot then and many movies from that era we would not have on our site. We did not upload this western movie to the internet but found it and embedding was allowed so we embedded it here on Westerns On The Web. I decided to keep it here and just post a language advisory.
