The Forsaken Westerns – Officer’s Choice

Officer’s Choice western TV series episode pilot hosted by Randolph Scott and starring Scott Brady and Paul Kelly. This is the pilot episode of a suggested TV western anthology series titled Randolph Scott Theatre of the West. This pilot produced by Harry Joe Brown very likely was filmed in 1955 or early 1956 because the young Mimi Gibson is about the right age for 1955 and Paul Kelly passed away in late 1956. This is episode 18 of The Forsaken Westerns, an original TV series produced by Westerns On The Web Productions. In this episode Cliff McLean is the no nonsense Sheriff of the town of Lost Eagle in the year 1890. U.S. Ranger Will Yount comes to town to incorporate the help of McLean in locating an outlaw named Arlo Brandt. What a shame this series was not picked up by a network. There is a great cast and a good story but Randy Scott could not be in two places at once and his movie career was set to skyrocket again, with the release of the 1956 western film “7 Men from Now”. Westerns On The Web did release this film from or archives as an independent release in 2014. The discovery of this almost lost treasure played a big roll in our production company searching for more such rare western film gems and launching the series “The Forsaken Westerns”. As with many of our episodes it’s a miracle that there is any copy of this film at all. Hosted by Bob Terry The Forsaken Westerns series contains episodes of TV shows that were never broadcast or have not been broadcast in as many as 65 years. Almost lost forever, these rare television film treasures are now being released and uploaded for viewing from the https://westernsontheweb.com archive collection.
